Meet Chuck Wayman

Born and raised in Colusa County, Chuck Wayman has spent his entire career serving the students, families, and schools of this community. Today, he is proud to serve as your Colusa County Superintendent of Schools, guided by a simple belief — every decision should be based on what best supports students.
Chuck began his career as a Special Education Teacher and coach at Pierce High School, working directly with students with unique learning needs and their families.
Those early experiences shaped his approach to leadership and reinforced the importance of consistency, relationships, and meeting students where they are.
He later served as Director, Assistant Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent before stepping into the role of Superintendent.

Throughout his leadership career, Chuck has overseen countywide Special Education services and helped strengthen and expand core instructional and student support programs across the county, including:
Oversight of Special Education programs and services to support students with disabilities and ensure compliance, quality services, and strong district collaboration
Creating the Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability Department to provide districts with ongoing instructional support and professional development
Expanding student mental-health and wellness services, including school-based counselors and a district Wellness Center
Expanding Adult Education programs, including the Wildland Fire Academy and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program
Working with districts to explore and develop new career and community education programs based on local needs
Strengthening partnerships with all four districts so the County Office of Education remains a trusted resource and partner
Colusa County is home for Chuck. It’s where he grew up, where he and his wife are raising their children, and where he continues to serve with consistency, collaboration, and a focus on students.
Community Involvement & Service
Chuck’s commitment to Colusa County extends well beyond the school system. Throughout his life, he has remained actively involved in community programs that support youth, families, and local recreation.
Chuck helped found the Arbuckle Youth Football program, giving local children the opportunity to participate in organized athletics close to home. He also served on the Parks and Recreation Board, supporting recreational programs and facilities for families throughout the community.
In addition, Chuck served as President of the local Little League, working closely with parents and volunteers to strengthen youth baseball programs. He has also served on the High School Booster Board, supporting student-athletes and extracurricular programs.
These experiences reflect Chuck’s long-standing belief in community involvement, strong partnerships, and giving back to the place that raised him.
